Some info. on your villa booking. Asteri is a small village about two miles inland from the nearest beach at Stavromenos which is itself about seven miles from the town of Rethymnon. There are a few local tavernas in the surrounding villages but no geat nightlife in the vicinity if you are a young crowd! Plenty of tavernas, bars etc. along the beach road, (in Adele Campos, and Platanes) leading into town, however.
Local bus services are good, but I am not sure a service actually passes through the village. You will need a car/cars if you want to get out and about and use the larger supermarkets.
James Villas have pictures of the accommodation on their website, it looks good and seems a fairly new property. You will be glad of the pool to cool off in in July, it will be very warm!

My family and I are going in mid June. We have had a James villa holiday last year and were exeptionaly pleased with the accomadation and service. We are hoping that the Markos Chara villa is as good if not better as it is advertised as the "best of James " We will let you know when we return, is there any thing specifically you would like to know?
And we would welcome any info or recomendations in the meantime from any one who has been there.
