can anyone help me so I know what to expect? going to bangkok/koh samui on saturday with 17/19 year old kids. What is the legal age that alcohol can be consumed? will there be any restrictions on them being able to get into venues?
we will be avoiding go-go type places. I am wondering whether the mum/dad activity will be restricted if places are very strict on entry age.
Will they need to carry ID around with them?
dont want to buy daughter a beer then get arrested!
thanks
caroline
Not been to Thailand since they have raised the legal drinking age to 20 so I don't know what things are like under this new regime. Always seemed to be fairly relaxed in the restaurants and bars I have been to, but then I'm more mature of years.
thanks, thats the first question answered, didnt know it was 20. if anyone has any recent experience i'd be very grateful. holidaying i bangkok and koh samui
anyone got the real answer, or is it both above, i.e. as long as you dont buy it yourself, you can drink at any age???????????? (surely not!)
thanks for helping me out
caroline
I have absolutely no doubt that if they drink beer, there will be problem at all. Thailand is the prime destination for 18 year old Europeans escaping their parents to consume cheap beer, whiskey & other substances.
