We're leaving soon on our first family cruise, and were wondering if a couple of walkie talkies might be a useful thing to take along to keep in touch with the kids/wife.
Any experience ??
Wouldn't be TOO upset if they don't work too well in the bars on board, right enough !! Or the jewellery shops, come to think of it.
To be honest we took ours the first cruise we went on but never used them. There are only so many places your family can be and you soon learn your way around. You won't see the kids anyway but believe me, you soon get to like it
If you will be cruising on one of the large ships walkie talkies can be very useful. If you have kids that have different interests then you can walk MILES checking on where they are.
We have Motorola (USA) - reception is sometimes patchy, however,we just cruised on Freedom of the SEas and I saw people using them all the time.

Thanks for the info, folk - I bought a couple from a local shop for a tenner, so no great loss if they're no real use !!
