Got back from Icmeler last night after yet another lovely holiday there.
We stayed in the Efes Inn and although a really nice place it was marred by poor air coditioning. Apparently it is known for its poor AC but we hoped they may have seen the earlier complaints and rectified it. With temperatures soaring above 50 everywhere was hot but the hotel was even hotter. It was centrally controlled at the managers discretion, after many complaints a notice was put up saying the AC was switched on each day from 3 pm to 8 am, this was just not enough, the notice also said that you should not open doors and windows if you wanted it to work. We asked for fans which was ignored. Such a shame to feel that unconfortable when the hotel and staff were lovely.
We still had a good time.
Went to Akyaka for a day trip, lovely.
Another trip was on the water taxi to a small beach called something beginning with K, It was just pass Turunc. Fare was only 15 tkl. Small beach with a restaurant, but behind this was a gorgeous pool which anyone could use. As we were the only boat there it was not crowded at all. Highly recommended.
Went on Surf n Turf with Icmeler Travel Centre but was not allowed access to the American House which was a shame.
Had our usual Turkish Bath in Marmaris, had a long wait though for the bus to collect us, we left Icmeler at 1 pm and did not get bck until 5, we was told it would be two hours. A couple with us was going home that night and was getting worried.
Icmeler seemed a lot busier this year but the hassle not as bad.
The worst came from the beach boys who will not take no for an answer.
Within a short space you are asked if you wanted sunbeds even though they can hear you say "no thank you" to another offer.
We used Coco Beach part of the beach where "Messi" was the beachmaster - he knew everyone by name.
Back now to washing and ironing and looking forward to the next holiday, hopefully it will be slightly cooler, found temperatures this year too hot and uncomfortable but then no rain. Should not complain we could have had the same weather as Engand has had lately.
going in two weeks time to antalya, just wondered with temperatures so high,,how was the humidity???
did it cool down ok for the evenings, what sort of temp was it???
We did hear that a weather warning has been given for tomorrow, telling people to take care and stay indoors during the day.
The sand was burning hot and even with sandals worn to the waters edge burnt. You saw people running back from the sea without anything on their feet literally going through the sands as if it was hot coals.
The sea was warm though....
