Hi Shirley

My bargain buy was 3 t-shirts for 150 bahts (about £2.50) at the weekend market in Bangkok. It was so hot and humid when we were there in April, that I needed to change my clothes 2 or 3 times a day, so they came in really handy :D

My one big regret was not buying the fake Mulberry handbag that I saw in Krabi. The best price I could haggle down to worked out at around £40 and even though it was leather, I thought it was a bit steep for a rip-off. I saw the exact same handbag in Selfridges last weekend and it was £295! Wish I'd bought the fake :(

Used to buy loads of t-shirts and the like in the days when such things were more expensive in the UK, but now there as cheap (or cheaper) here so don't bother. Like to go to some of the department stores like Central where you can buy good quality Thai designer brands (unknown in UK).

Lots of stuff on Chatachuk for home craft and card makers so we have a poke around there. Maybe a football kit for niece, whos an ace footballer.

If I'm in one place for long enough I like to have a few clothes made, had a gorgeous heavy silk suit made for a Wedding that I was about to attend in the UK. My niece went with me on one of the holidays and she had her prom dress made in the style of the outfit that the flight attendants wear on Thai Airways (can't remember what the outfits are called), she looked lovely as she is tiny and slim. Other than that I buy bags and have some pretty cushion covers that I have bought in the past.

Where in the UK do you get your t-shirts from for less than 80p each? I could do with a few more cheapies that I can take to Greece in September and leave behind to make room for all the metaxa I bring back :D

Not quite 80p, but picked up five shirts for a fiver a few weeks back at Lidl...fine for the beach...trouble is its just one of their one off deals.

I will say though that t-shirts I've bought in Thailand, Bali, Malaysia and like seem to last forever...so much for them being badly made.

That's very true, Sunbear. I've still got one that I bought the first time we went to Thailand in 1991. It's more like charcoal grey now than the original black, but the hand painted design is still as bright as ever and it hasn't lost its shape at all. I only wear it for slopping around the house in nowadays, but I think I'll probably still have it in another 16 years
