Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Hi Saoirse .. there is always a possibility that Ryanair may spring a surprise seat sale. They have had a few in recent days, but perhaps not on September availability. A sale with Aer Lingus is perhaps less likely. Failing any sales, fares will continue to increase as availability continues to decrease, so by holding off you risk paying a lot more, or perhaps finding that your dates are fully booked. Have you checked Easyjet from Belfast, or is that too inconvenient for you ?

Thanks David... Belfast is a little too far from Dublin with a toddler in tow! We might just have to take the plunge and buy at the current price. The weather certainly isnt helping to push the prices down!!!

Thanks again.

How about the likes of MyTravel, I believe they have a weekly flight from Dublin. Have you tried them ?

Just had a quick peek and couldnt see any flights originating in Dublin.

I had a look at Easyjet in case it was too good a deal not to consider but their prices make the ones I looked at from Dublin seem like a giveaway!!!!

Thanks for your help! :thanks

Hi Saoirse ... just looking at the Direct Holidays (Ireland) website, I can see those MyTravel flights operate from Dublin to Faro on a Sunday only. I tried a couple of random dates and got a fare of €199 per person, compared with €261 with Ryanair for the same dates. Perhaps worth a look, if Sunday travel is any good to you.

I checked out a few of the charters but we are travelling on "odd" days.... flying out on Sept 2nd and back on the 14th. The charters only work if your dates are more structured.

Ryanair are €88 each way and I reckon we will have to go with that. Last year we only paid €29! Madness!

Thanks for going to all this trouble! :glynis

From what I am looking at on those dates, that seems to exclude fees, taxes, baggage charges, etc., which push it up to around €250 return per person.

Exactly.... that is why I am wondering should we gamble on the prices dropping over the next few days/weeks? It's mad money compared to what we paid last year. :yikes We are committed to our dates so cant change them.

Decisions.. decisions!!!!

Have a nice evening!

Which would upset you most ??

1. Booking at those fares, but then discovering later that they are slashed in a sale.
2. Waiting for a sale, but then discovering that the fares have risen
3. Waiting for a sale, but then discovering the flights are fully booked

It is a gamble but as your dates are fixed, is it a gamble worth taking ? There is perhaps as much chance that you could book today and fares will rocket the next day. Sometimes it is best just to make a decision, and then not look at fares and availability again to see what has happened. But that is perhaps easier said than done !!

Hmmmm... I think option 3 would freak me out completely!!!! But the other two would be a close second!!!!

I think we have decided just to book Ryanair and to heck with it! On the same day travelling home AerLingus is €225 per adult before charges, baggage etc!!!!!! :yikes

Car hire and flights are looking at costing the guts of €1000 - I think we were just lucky last year (plus the weather wasnt anyway as bad  ).

Roll on September! :sun
