I spent the weekend at the airshow in Blackpool. Saturday was a washout, pretty much rained all day so the Reds could only to their low level restricted show. Sunday was much better. Torrential rain in the morning but it cleared up in time and they put on a fantastic show and did a high speed pass of the airport just for us photographers, thanks guys! It makes you feel proud to be British when you see them; the best pilots in the world flying the best fast jet trainer aircraft which is built just down the road from me! The rest of the show was ok, but overall, the Blackpool airshow is not what it used to be.
A few snaps:
The BAe Hawk T1. 'Red 1' taxiing for take off
The diamond 9 formation for a high speed pass
Now trailing smoke
Plenty of g-force and co-ordination in that move
We love you too!!
If anyone wants to see the Red Arrows in action next weekend (28/29th July), they'll be based at Blackpool Airport from next friday until sunday afternoon and performing at the Windermere Airshow at Bowness. The display is at 12pm both days.

Call me mad but I've entered a photo competition to fly with the Red Falcons on the C130 and maybe do a jump with them from 12,000ft. Wish me luck!

as we say only an idiot would jump out of a perfectly servisable aircraft
Hi Darren - excellent photos!! thanks - Jenny x
cracking photos
Saw them last week at Fairford. The ironic thing was that the star attraction in that show was the "Thunderbirds" (the American's best of the best) who rarely display outside of the US of A.
They were here in Qatar last year a breath taking display made us proud to be Brits Abroad.
There was talk of scrapping them last year in a defence budget cost cutting exercise, but there was an on-line petition to Tony Blair to keep them...I think he did respond saying that their future is safe.

They are performing at Sunderland air show this Sunday around 5pm.
In a word....Fantastic.....a lot of the other flying programme was curtailed but the `Arrows` made it in.....

I'm sure members will appreciate the offer Lincoln Imp, but perhaps whatever you get up to in your back garden should be kept private. Now, back on topic please.
