Good morning,
We are hoping to take a short trip in early October, spending four days in Porto and four days in Madrid. Madrid I know reasonably well, but I've never been to Porto before. Any recommendations for accommodation at all, and for anything not to be missed? Don't worry about the Port side of things, that's the main reason for going there and I have that all planned already.
Also, any comments about the weather at that time of year?

Hello Rotixan, although we have yet to visit Porto we have been to Portugal 8 times, the last time we went to Lisbon we used a firm called Caravela, part of the TAP airlines group. You may well be useing your own tranaport to get there, but if you have a look on the site below you can see some of the hotels they use and it gives a small acount of Porto as well.
