High Folks,

Been reading posts for a few weeks and it's been really interesting, thanks a lot. This easy access to information makes things so much easier (and much less like Marco Polo) than it must of been in the 60's & 70's before the internet and rampant globalisation. Anyway off on a ramble for 3 weeks with nothing booked except flights via a couple of places I've never been to either and I like to have at least just the vaguest plan as to where to head from the airport. So I can just find the bus or taxi and tell them bring me to this town please, then get out central and take a look around and find somewhere to stay the night. I can't decide whether to spend more time in the north or south and have read a lot on this forum and have I think worked out that in general terms: South: more like it used to be chilled and beautifull. North: some parts have Irish bars/english breakfasts/Benidorm vibes but have lots of nice parts and are nice and lively.

So how about heading for somewhere inbetween not too far from the airport (pretty much in the middle of Goa) feeling it out, (hopefully finding somewhere to stay that first night) and then deciding right there and then if more madness (north) or some chilling out (south) is required and making it up from there.

THE QUESTION: Which town would you suggest to head to first?:
-Not too far from airport,
-Nice enough place,
-Simple enough accomodation available without booking

(I'm 33 year old male travelling alone, travelling very light and planning to head inland for a few days for an explore)
