what time of year are you thinking of going ?, there is not a lot in Pineda really , but you can catch the little train that goes to calella , or actually walk into calella , catch the train to other resorts for the evening, i prefer santa susanna / malgrat it seems to have a different atmosphere ,
like to stay at hotel thinking of thompson family one anyway but nice to wander out for drink or meal!
If you are, you won't have any problems with what to do. The long beach is just across the road, and it is only a short walk or ride into Calella or Pineda where there are lots of shops and restaurants.
We have just got back from a weeks stay in a hotel in the centre of Pineda. It was AI. But there seemed to be plenty of restaurants on the front and especially on one of the "no traffic" streets.
After our evening meal we would always go for a walk, sometimes along the beach prom. or sometimes into town. You always felt safe.
If you like walking, the beach prom. goes for miles. Calella in one direction, Santa Suzanna, Malgrat etc. in the other. Cycling is the thing too. Perhaps because it is very flat in that area. Calella has more to it then Pineda.
We caught the train into Barcelona one day, it was great.
There is also the little train which takes you round Pineda, along the beach front to Calella. It's a bit bumpy, but the kids will like it.
There was a fun fair in Calella near the train station.
I was a little disappointed to see all of the new buildings which had gone up since my first visit to the Taurus Park nearly 28 years ago. It was very rural in that area back then, which is what I liked about it. But the hotel has grown, and, from what I could see from the outside, it looks good.
The beach is one of the best you could hope for. Miles upon miles of safe sandy beach. What more could you want.
Have I helped Hope so.
Marn.
Is the beach sand i read somwhere that it was stoney?
Could you also answer one more question what is the food like when you stayed at taurus? what sort of food in the evening
So sorry for all the questions just want to be sure before i book.
Would you recomend the area and would you return
ENOUGH Questions i know!!
thanks a million
i have been going to the costa brava for the last 9 years , i would not agree about the beach being soft sand as it is very small pebbles and gritty, the sea shelves very quickly so be careful with children . We always user the little trickie trackie train that goes around the resort, which is cheap and cheerful , waving to people as you go bye. Calella is more livelier than Pineda, with mini golf and ten pin bowling , lots of nice places to eat. Santa Susanna /Malgrat also very nice and more livelier than pineda , depending what you like to do , there is a small fun fair in Santa susanna . Catch the train and go to other resorts Tossa is very pretty with its castle to walk around wonderful views and again nice places to eat. Blanes which is more laid back and very traditional , lovely botanical gardens to spend some time at , Lloret very lively........ or go to barcelona for the day.really spoilt for choice
It is so long ago since I stayed at the Taurus, that I have no idea about the food. But there is a a topic on the Taurus Park so why not have a look there.
