Hi all
We are looking for B&B's that offer a little character.
The ideal B&B would be situated within Wales or Yorshire and be olde worlde and offer great room views. We'd love to spend a romantic night or two, watching/listening to the rain whilst sharing a bottle or wine.
Ideally, with a spacious bathroom with a spa.
Don't mind spending a few quid either, but don't want anything posh.
Asking too much? i guess we maybe, but who knows with so many helpful people on here, we might just find our ideal B&B.
We're looking to visit around the end of October 2007 -
Has anyone found/stayed in such a place? - we'd love to hear from you.
We need a nice, cosy, atmospheric weekend away -
In hope
Andy
Just been googling B&B's in Yorkshire. Some of these look quite good

I quite like the look of the Kirbymoorside, Brickfields farm with french doors opening on to a terrace with views over open fields
Sounds really relaxing
I haven't been to any of these though

This isn't the areas you mentioned. It's in Glossop, Derbyshire, just on the edge of the Peak District, but I can highly recommend it. We stayed there a couple of weeks ago and its lovely, as are Margaret and Malcolm who own it.
We stayed in the annex which had a small bathroom but the shower cubicle was very large. The bedroom itself had a double bed, single bed, a couple of chairs, mini fridge, TV/DVD, and still had plenty of room to swing a cat!
You can walk into Glossop town in 5-10 minutes. Not much shop wise, but enough bars, and restaurants at reasonable prices. Train to Manchester takes 1/2 hour and costs just over £2.

AJay, this one comes highly recommended by my parents who absolutely adore the place. I think it meets your requirements:

My parents stay in one of the olde worlde cottages and have breakfast in the farmhouse every morning. They recommend the evening meals too.

You must look at Herefordshire - the last real county in England and the most unspoiled and beautiful. Its close to so much natural beauty - the Wye Valley, Tintern Abbey, Hay-on-Wye, the Brecon Beacons.... I could go on and on. Have a look at this B&B run by John and Liz Parry. It is beautiful and Liz is a fantastic cook.

I think you would love it - the food, decor and atmosphere are hard to beat - from what you have written its just what you are looking for.

I would very highly recommend Cross House Lodge which is the B&B lodge for the famous "Star Inn" in Harome .I dont have the link but just google it .Yes its dear ...but worth every penny its stylish luxurious has a huge central chimney in the lounge. A massive plus is that you are next to one of the most famous gastro pubs in England. I could bang on all day but just take a look at the reviews on trip advisor(there are some candid photos too)
Last visit was in septmber and we are booked to go back at xmas,we have so far stayed in several rooms and they are all fab
