PANJIM, OCT 19 - In view of bye-elections to Lok Sabha for 2-Mormugao parliamentary constituency, the State Government in an notification has directed all licensed premises selling liquor in South Goa shall be closed from October 29, from 5 pm onwards to October 31, up to 5 pm and on November 3, in view of polling and counting of votes for the said bye-election.
Taken from the Oherald, hope it doesn`t spoil things too much for a few days
The shacks will be dusting down their teapots for serving the booze in then ! Alan
I just realised we will be there then - are there any elections in the north - I hope not.
I'm cracking up , don't go until November 10th - too much visa worry.
i guess we'll be buying more than planned from duty free before we fly out
Usually the shacks serve up a nice pot of whatever your tipple is, as gramps mentioned. The hotel we were in did serve drinks but beware and stock up your fridge.
Don't worry gang there are no dry days in the north, we have already had them for the elections not that it made much difference because the local village bars stayed open but just kept an eye out for the police, we were in a bar in our local village Nerul and the owners father padlocked the door from outside and one of us hid in the toilet and the other in the store room, now that's what i would call a LOCK in.
I stand corrected, the Herald Friday 26th, All the licenced liqour premises located within the state of Goa, shall remain closed from 5pm of October 29th to 5pm of October 31st in view by-electionto Lok Sabha for 2-Mormugao Parlimentary Constituency, and on November 3rd, in the district of south Goa only on account of counting votes.
But at least we know where to go for a drink as i said in my last post.
All have a good time now, don't let that local Bobby catch you
Mike
