can anybody tell me if you can buy "fake" designer handbags or watches in costa tequise or anywhere else on the island.

Hi :D

If you go to the market at Teguise you should be able to find plenty of fake designer goods, or at least there were plenty when I last went :D

It's in the village of Teguise every Sunday from about 10am, get there early if you can as it gets very busy!

Also plenty in the shops in all the resorts so you will be sure to find something you like on your travels.

Also there is a smaller market in Costa Teguise on a Friday night in Pueblo Marinero, where you can buy the same things!!!!! Smaller, friendly, and you should enjoy that!! You can buy as much fake as you like there!!!!!!!!

Anyone know what time the bars etc are open till in Matagorda CC? We will arrive tonight at 2230 at the airport. Just wondering if there's a chance we'll get out for an hour or two, also maybe we can get something to eat, even if it's a takeaway pizza or something!

can't speak for all, but we found in costa teguise that most food servings ended by 11pm or so, with the shops shutting at 10pm. I'd probably recommend you took some sandwiches or something so that you can eat if thats what you want :)

:D Lesley have a brill time. I have to agree with Ian, most of the restaurants shut early (11-11.30), with the exception of the chinease restaurant which shut about 12.30, but from what I remember from speaking to you, your not a lover of chinease, so I'd pack a few sarnies, although the shop in airport sells sandwiches, cheese, etc. Enjoy. beware of the airport food!

I ordered a plain burgert from burger king on my way out, explained in spanish that i didnt like any of the sauces or anything on and asked for one with just burger & bun, asked girl if she understood, yes she says, pay just under 3 euros, sit down, and its covered in it :( waste of money, but I bought a chicken salad which was nicer after :D

Bellyballyboo,

Chinese would do just fine. Not my favourite, but if I can even get some rice and curry sauce, or some noodles. Just something to fill my stomach really. Either sit in or takeaway. Quite surprised it's open till 1230 right enough! I'd only be looking for a snack after a long flight anyway, not a full meal at that time in the evening!

Ian81,

I'm vegetarian, so the burger scenario won't happen. Only eat chips from those places, and only if I'm stuck as I'm not even fond of those.

We head at 3pm. I'm just going to have a bath now, and I think we're going to go out for lunch after that. Then we head to the airport about 3pm. Quite excited now, although the weather forecast is a bit of a mixture.

I'll try to log on when I'm away and give a few updates!

I have been travelling to Lanzarote 2 or 3 times/year for the last 8 years and have purchased various electrical items over that period. My advice to anyone thinking of buying out there is MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT AND THE PRICE OF THAT ITEM AT HOME. You must also know what you are paying as well, as someone said earlier they do use 1.5 euro to the pound, make sure you use your exchange rate that you got the day you collected your currency.I have noticed that since Spain adopted the Euro the savings to be had on electrical items has all but vanished. As others have said on this thread avoid the sea front stores, Visanta does seem to be a more honest shop (1 in pdc on the front near the casino and 1 in Arrecife 100yds from the tall hotel). If you visit one of the other shops they start their prices very high, a lot of the goods are european models, which is ok as long as you realise and a lot of the uk service centres will not honour the warranty (despite what the retailer tells you). As i say this is all ok as long as you think any saving may be worth this. I have seen people ripped off out there. theses salesman are very intimidating and persistant, make sure you know the uk price to pay and be prepared to walk away. they generally have no respect for the customer. i speak a small amount of spanish and can understand what they say to colleagues as you leave, do not feel obliged to buy from them because they seem friendly, they couldnt give a t### about you only your wallet. the shopping experience is not like shopping here. you dont realise the level of protection we have at home as consumers untill you experience the full sales pitch out there. I know i am starting to sound very bitter and i dont really have reason to as the worst i got stung was paying a very similar price as i would have paid in the uk, but that was after a lot of haggling and if course not getting the aftersales if the camcorder had gone to meet its maker 3 weeks after purchase. === i am just trying to say, you can still save money but know what you are buying and be as tough as the sales people. thankyou i must now take my soapbox to another corner. :D

Can anyone help, we are looking to book to go to Lanzarote for the first time in November this year. My partner is a shopaholic and can anyone please recommend a resort that has plenty of shops, good stuff and tack holiday souveniers.

Also can anyone advise what the weather is like in the beginning of November as I have been told it can be quite wet.

Thanks for any help you can give me

I should imagine PDC would suit your needs shopping-wise.

If you post your weather question HERE, I'm sure Bawbee, our Lanzarote weather expert, will be able to assist
