Hi all i will be staying at the Mount Lavinia hotel in Sri Lanka next Feb and was just wondering if anybody knows how far the turtle sanctuary, elephant orhanage and the huge rock ( forgot name) you can climb is from our hotel. They all look really far on the map im worried we wont be able to go to any of them as they may be too far away.
If so does anyone know of things to do close to where we are staying and any nice places to eat and good beaches.
I got some brilliant tips for Goa when i went last year so im hoping you will all be able to help again. Thanks in advance x
I think the elephant orphanage is probably about 3 hrs away - it'll take you an hour to just get out of Colombo in bad traffic. Sigiriya is probably another 2-3 hrs further than that. you would proably need an overnight stay there as it is cooler if you climb it in the morning. All the roads in Sri Lanka are very slow so journeys can take 2-3 times what they would here. Still well worth it though!
