Our friends who have a shack here have emailed us to tell us that it has not suffered too badly this year, but they have lost a couple of feet more of beach and the bank up to the shack is steeper than ever. They do say however that there is more sand on the beach in certain places near them. I hope that the beach by the Taj has not sufferd too much, we like to eat lunch at Bon Appetit and last year it was quite hazardous at high tide having to scramble over the rocks.
We are going this evening for three weeks so I'll post an update when we return.

Hi Guys

I went to the beach yesterday and walked all the way along, it has not been damaged to badly this year, but the beach is a disgrace there are broken bottles, rubbish and the signs of drug use, there a very few shacks open as you have probably read. Coco beach took the brunt of the monsoon this year and it is now known there will only be three or four shacks on it.

Returned from Goa on Sunday, sad to say that the beach at Sinquerim was much worse than we imagined. The beach in front of Kingfisher Villa all the way to the Taj has worn away badly and at low tide there were lots of sharp rocks along the shoreline. The newish wall at the Taj has fallen into the sea and part of the wall at Bon Appetit has sufferd the same fate. It is now not possible to walk right to the end of the beach unless the tide is very low. I live in hope of the River Princess being moved before next year !!!

Around November last year, I asked on this forum how the condition of Sinquerim beach was. A very depressing report was given by one or two Holiday Truth members. To compound the bad news, I then found a video on the web (on u tube) showing the very bad erosion and with no beach what so ever. Bon Appetite's wall had fallen down and the steps up to the Taj Aguada's Spa had also fallen down. The video showed the two lads who carry the ice blocks having to scramble over rocks, still balancing those heavy ice blocks!

My Wife and I had a good think and we decided on the evidence to cancel our booking at the Taj Fort Aguada and booked with the new Lemon Tree hotel. Thinking that we would have a reasonable beach to use albeit the River Princess being so close by. We were dreading the idea that we would not be visiting the Bon Appetite and spending lazy days there.

We flew out as usual at the end of January, and early on our first morning, we strolled along the beach, passing the Goan Titanic towards to the Sinquerim beach. When we got nearer to Sinquerim, "lo and behold" the beach was nearly as we have always know it. We spoke to Jo Jo (Bon Appetite) and he said that the tides turn and replenish the sand by mid January onto the beach. So I guess the moral here is as far as Sinquerim beach is concerned it's best left until the New Year to find sand. I do appreciate that the beach has never been as when we first went there in 1996.

We are shortly flying out slightly earlier next Jan on 14th 2008. So we are both hoping that nature has done its task and made a little beach there.
