Hi all,

Does anyone know if we could rent a bouncy seat, portable crib (PackNPlay), stroller?

We can't bring a pack-n-play (portable crib) but we oould bring a bouncy seat and a stroller but would rather not.

I'm not sure what a bouncy seat is called in the UK but it's basically a "recliner" type seat for a 0-8 month old infant that bounces/rocks etc. A way to keep a baby off the ground at a slight angle, as oppsed to lying flat.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi gracie, we are staying at the Varca palms at Varca Beach. I have heard that the sea is rough so I will be vigilant (would be anyway). It's a total journey into the unknown for us and him as he's not been on a plane before but he is looking forward to the holiday. It's been 8 years since I was in Goa, looking forward to having a day up to Chapora and Vagator to see the changes. Want to take a train to Hampi for a couple of days as I want him to see the 'real' India too.

My partner and I are thinking of going back to Goa either in December 07 or January 08 and taking our son who will be a year and a half then with us. We were there before and loved it, my partner was pregnant with our son at the time. Is it wise for us to take a baby and how easy is it to get nappies and baby food etc out there, does anyone have any knowledge in taking children as young as this to Goa. Last time we were there we stayed with a lovely couple and they told us when we left to come back with the baby as they had family who would babysit etc. I have written to them and I am awaiting a reply but I dont know if we are mad to consider this or if we should just go for it.

Also, is there anywhere that we could hire a buggy and travel cot when we are out there and what sort of things could we do with him.

Thanks for any help we can get.

Quick tip on tablets for babies and toddlers is to take a tablet crusher and 5 or 10 ml syringes. Crush the tablet and then mix with 5 or 10 ml only of orange juice water etc. and then backdraw the mixture back up the syringe and squoosh into mouth :) . Hope that makes sense :? If toddlers for revenge they get to fill the syringe back up with water and squirt you with it :)

Hi, I was in Goa in April. My brother took his son who was 21 months. He did have son reservations, but they were all unfounded. We had no problems at all. They purchased nappies in UK, along with swimmer nappies as were unsure of brands/availability in Goa. As they took enough, they didn't need to buy any so don't know what brands available there. He still likes to have a milk bottle to go to bed with and we bought their bags of milk for 9rps per bag from the shop and this was enough for 2 bottles and milk was kept in the fridge. No problems with the milk for him at all. No problems with the food either, there is always something available for kids and if not, just ask and I'm sure the restaurant will russle up something. They also brought his food out first aswell, when asked. My brother took an old buggy over to use, and they we left this for CWT to use when we left. As for malaria tablets, we did exactly what tightjock suggested, it was the easiest way. He didn't like it much, but it got the job done with the minimum of fuss. Loads of factor 50 and plenty of mosi repellent in the evenings. You shouldn't have any problems, we didn't. Enjoy!

i took my little lad when he was 6 months old for 3 weeks. I took his own powdered milk, nappies to last a few days because nappies are widely available, and i took him some of those swimmer nappies.
Food wasn't really much of a problem because he was still on that baby food, but i did take him the year after, and the year after that, by which time he was eating proper food, and there was no problem at all getting something he liked.
I seem to remember he loved mash potato and gravy from a beach shack near calangute steps.

We took a lot of factor 50, and kept him in the shade much of the day.
Basically i dont think taking a child to india is any different to taking a child to anywhere in Europe. Just take the sensible precautions and you'll be fine.

We have been visiting Goa since 1997, and absolutely love the place. We were a little dubious about going there once we had children, but decided to take our son when he was 17 months old. He absolutely loved it, and had no problems. We made sure he only had bottled water, and cleaned his teeth in bottled water. We used plenty of suncream and he wore an all in one suit. In the evening as he was too young for malaria tablets, we made sure he had plenty of mozzy repellant and his legs and arms were covered. We also took a mozzy net so when he was asleep in the buggy when we were out at night he was well covered.

We took him back again last year when he was 3 and a half and he spent all day digging in the sand and playing in the little pools left behind when the tide went out.

We now have a little girl too, currently 5 months and are already planning her first trip to Goa in 2009. ( Really missing it this year, but she is just too young !!)

There are obvioulsy no theme parks or amusements, but what child doesn't enjoy playing in the pool or on the beach ??? !!!
