Is it cheaper to book a flight and hotel at the same time or both seperatley?
I am wanting to go to Kefalonia next year and have gone through all the travel agent sights and the cheapest i have come up with is £950 per person.
When i do a search for example on a web that does a full search on all ie just flights or just hotels i am not getting anything.
Any advise?
many people swear by DIY holidays likewise many find a good travel agent just as cheap and you have the security of the ABTA bond..personaly i have done both but majority of the time i found the agent i use is the same or cheaper,, don't believe the price in the brochure or in an advert it is only an offer to sell so get haggling
A web search will not check all flights to Kefalonia and give you the cheapest - you will have to hunt around for them! A couple of flight comparison sites do exist but none cover all web-sites. Most are also looking at no-frills airline type sites - none of which operate to this Greek island.
A travel agent can either offer you a package holiday operated by a tour operator, or package something up to suit your needs.
It might be worth checking some of the main tour operators web sites to do some comparison checking.
DIYing can be fun, sometimes cheaper (but not always) - but it will take you time and effort to find the "best" deal.
does anyone know an airline that goes direct to kefalonia from scotland?
you could try airline network, do a search for Kef and they'll tell who flies there.
Has anyone ever booked flight only to Kefalonia. I have been considering a diy instead of a package (sooo expensive for s/c and bb through most of the tour operators) for June this year. Any tips, would it be best to wait and hope for more flights to become available? Any advice welcome!
i wouldnt wait if you definately want to go to kefalonia.flights that are available now will be all the availability, i wouldnt imagine anyone would put anymore on.
Mezza - when we went to Kef a couple of years ago I priced up DIY versus tour op and it worked out double for us to go DIY so we booked with Olympic (with early booking discount we got 2 weeks SC for around £750). I think the main reasons it worked out expensive DIY is that it's one of the more expensive islands to go to and no 'low cost' airlines fly there so you can't get really cheap flights.
Puddleduck2, thanks, yes your right, have priced some accommodation for June and it ranges between 30 to 60 euros per night, but flight costs mean it`s no cheaper than a package deal! Have a great holiday!
Thanks
