I am thinking of renting a villa next May in Aljezur, Vale de Telha. Has anyone been to this area and if so could you possible tell me what it is like.
Thanks
Vale de Telha is very quiet. I thought of buying a house there as the villas are very attractive. When I looked there it was too quiet for me. There were no shops and only 1 cafe/restaurant that I found. VDT is a big area so you can be a fair distance from the beach but, as most villas have their own pool, this may not be a problem
you dont have too many shops, or restaurants, but the existing ones are
the beaches near is Praia da Arrifana
you can read this (i've used google translater...so some errors may exist )
The Blue Flag beach of the Arrifana, stretches for a sand over half kilometre long. Form a kind of small bay, and it is the least hit by surf the waves. In the south there is a top vertical rock in the middle of the sea, to remember a statue giant. Outside the bathing season is much sought by surfers and practitioners of Body Board. Next to the ruins of what remains of Arrifana Fortress, built by the Arabs, can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Costa Vicentina.
ARRIVAL OF ALJEZUR: As for the Mont Clérigo Beach, follow the signs that are right at few meters after the exit of the village to the south. At the end of the hike, return left in Praia da Arrifana.
ACCESS: easy (wooden ramp and stairs); beach with easy access for the disabled.
INFRAESTRUTURAS SUPPORT: toilets, showers, parking, bar / restaurant on the beach.
PRAIA VIGIADA: yes (during the bathing season)
Much of the area is a National Park and is therefore in theory protected, but no doubt within a few years the money from developers will over-ride any objections to hotels and golf courses!
The beach at Monte Clerigo was excellent!
Amoreiras beach is also recommended.
Great place to visit. If you want more life, perhaps consider Vila do Bispo/ Sagres area and drive up to Monte Clerigo for the day (only 20/30 mins away).
