We are going to Acudia to the Siesta1 Hotel on the 19th April and as we have not been to Alcudia before or been to Majorca in April Can anyone tell us how far is the hotel from shops and things. Things that will be open in April, it says in the brochure that entertainment in hotel does not start until May. How can we get to old Alcudia are there busses and if so where can we go without trips as I don't know if there would be any trips at that time of year.
We have been to Santa Ponsa twice in August/September and had a great time but this is all a bit new to usgoing away so early. Just want to get away for a break as main holiday not till September.

Anne, the Siesta 1 is at the bottom of the so-called Mile. There are shops and bars etc right close by, and many will be open. The supermarket Colber will be, but main supermarkets are a bit of a walk - about 20 minutes the nearest (Caprabo in front of the waterpark - the waterpark will not be open by the way). I think the Red Lion at the Siesta will be open with entertainment. There are buses to the old town but you'll probably need to go to the other end of the Mile and get one from the main road as the service by Bellevue doesn't normally start till 1 May. Other trips out - there are plenty of places around the island, e.g. the caves at Campanet which are not that far or somewhere like La Reserva in the mountains above Palma. The problem would be that organised excursions may not be available.
