Hi, weve booked a diy trip to Luxor from sharm in August. Were only staying at the mercure for one night then going back to sharm.When I booked the room, you had a choice of garden or nile view (booked through mercure website) there wasnt much difference in the prices and for the sake of one night it only cost about £32. If I remember correctly, the safety dep. boxes are in reception, but Im sure it states this on their website. From reading other reviews, this hotel is pretty central for everything. Happy holidays.

Yes, the safety deposit boxes are in a room behind the reception and usually in Egyptian hotels, they are free.

Ours certainly was, but it's a good few years since we stayed there.

It's in an excellent location as really central for everywhere, particularly the passenger ferry to the West Bank.

Try taking the sunset Camel ride (you can book at the hotel), which takes you through the local village on the West Bank. It was excellent and certainly gives you a local flavour of life in Egypt
