Yes Maltable, there is plenty of places that stay open on Good Friday, but please bare in mind that as Malta is a very religious country it is at the discretion of the management if they open or not, so there won't be as many as normal but I doubt very much that you will either starve or go thirsty.

We have been to Malta during Good Friday and everything seemed normal. In the evening there are processions in several villages. I think we went to Qormi where they claim it is the best

Qormi is famous in Malta as being a town of bakers, even to this day there bread and cakes etc are widely available throughout Malta which reminds me we still have a packet of delicious biskutelli in the pantry, these days Qormi is quite a large town by Maltese standards with a big industrial estate, and just in case anyone wanted to know more about the town of Qormi here is a link that tells you lots of interesting info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qormi

Hi all, this year (2008) Good Friday processions will be held in Bormla, Luqa, Mosta, Naxxar, Paola, Qormi, Rabat, Senglea, Valletta, Birgu, Żebbug and Żejtun in Malta. and in Nadur, Rabat, Xagħra and Żebbuġ in Ghawdex.

Easter Sunday processions in Malta will be held in Bormla, Għargħur, Gżira, Mosta, Naxxar, Paola, Qormi, Rabat, Senglea, Valletta, Birgu, Żebbuġ and Żejtun.

Easter Sunday processions in Ghawdex will be held in Fontana (on the first Sunday after Easter), Kerċem, Nadur, Qala, Rabat, Xagħra and Żebbuġ.
