I've been reading along for quite a while, but this is my first post...
The wife and myself have finally taken the plunge and bought an apartment in Golf Del Sur, after visiting at least 3 times a year for the last 7 years! Got it at the right price, but it needs a little TLC, nothing serious, only cosmetic. Can anyone recommend any B&Q type stores where we can get materials? Also could do with buying some second-hand furniture, as we intend to let the place until we (finally) manage to sell our house in the UK and move to Tenerife permanently. Are there any second hand stores (I've heard that there's one in Los Abrigos?).

Hi Andy ... you may find the info you are looking for (and much more) in our Ex Pats & Owners Abroad forum.

There is a large Fortunadas DIY store in Las Chafiras and plenty of smaller ones all over the place. To be honest you are probably better trying the smaller local ones as they are cheaper
As for the DIY shop, I strongly recommend the Leroy Merlin ( next door to the IKEA ) in the north Santa Cruz ( straight up the TF1 then follow sighns for TF2 La Laguna ) We got everything from shower screens, garden furniture and blinds etc. It is your typical B&Q and it is very good. As for second hand shops not to sure on them but BOOM in Los Olivos was very good for us as we managed to get furniture at very reasonable prices and even Ikea was reasonable. Hope your search goes well... and enjoy your appartment.
