we went to the three rivers rihana (sister hotel to the one you are going to) in january justgone.. there was a definite chill in the air both morning and after about 3pm so make sure you take some warmer clothes for the evening etc...the beach area was cooler still and for me the sea was too cold to swim in but then i am a wimp lol

basically you want to make sure you sit in sheltered areas then you will be fine to sunbathe etc and down at the beach there are sort of wicker baskets you can sit in that make it warmer

as for el gouna well we love it its peaceful. relaxing . solme say its the sanitised side of egypt and thats probably true but you dont get hassled by shopowners etc which i prefer for a relaxing holiday

we did the trip to cairo which was amazing!!!!, we flew rather than going by coach

Thanks for the reply. I am really looking forward to going. Can you visit the valley of the kings from the resort. Can't imagine going to Egypt and not seeing a pyramid.

yes you can go to the valley of the kings (luxor) if you want , we havent done that yet

bear in mind the trips to cairo or luxor are VERY long days u are looking at leaving the hotel at about 4am (earlier if you are going by bus) and not getting back until 10pm ish (i think about midnight if you go by coach)

can thoroughly recommend the cairo one as i said so if you do that you will certainly see a pyramid!!!
