We stayed at Ashvem in the huts for the two week ends of our 3 week stay in Feb ,Baga was heaving at the week ends so my taxi driver advised being two ladies we may find it better to go away at the week end rather than put up with all the ogglin on the beach.Which we did with no hesitation .
We ate at the local shacks every night apart from 1 when we took a local taxi further afield. This driver was telling us plans have gone through for a 200 bed hotel to be built in Asvem on the same stretch of road just prior to where the various huts start when travelling towards Mandrem...Anyone else heard this story
The 1st week end we stayed at Paradise which was very mediocre, chose this one as the huts are on stilts right on the edge of the beach with beautiful views. My hut was on the back row, couldnt see a thing apart from staff bathing and using the shrubs as a loo .....Great. My hut hadnt been cleaned and took them 3 hrs to get round to doing it.There was no boss on the site and the staff just didnt seem to be bothered [wont go there again]. 1000 rps a night per hut .
2nd week went 3 or 4 further down and stayed at Paradise Beach [where we have stayed before]..we booked in here on the 1st week end to make sure we got in .Absolutley great no probs no complaints spotlessly clean obliging staff .Same price. Will defo go back
from Paradise beach on the beach facing the sea go left past Rockbites and you come to an eatery which is just where the beach goes back a bit [so its like on a corner].We asked the price of the fish and were told that the kingfish were only very small and were on "special", we never saw them.Anyway it was our own faults we had 2 soft drinks 2 kingfish and it came to more that we had paid the night before at Soymens [app. for spelling].So we wont be going back there .
Next door to this is a very exotic looking eaterie with flowing drapes and low sofas ,That is the only place where my friend and I had the same meal during our 3 weeks and it was the only time we had Dehli Belly during our stay both starting at the same time .....Thanks goodness for the little yellow tablets .
