Hi All,
whilst pricing up a few holidays for Summer 09', I came across, what to me was, a bargain holiday with Direct holidays.
Two weeks all inclusive for four adults in Fuerteventura in August 09' for £2200.
When I priced up the same holiday with Thomas Cook it was approx £1000 dearer so when hubby got his visa out and told me to book it with Direct, I didn't need telling twice!!
Just out of interest, because I was so convinced that there had been an error, I repriced the same holiday with Direct today and sure enough, the price has now increased by approx £900, two days after I have booked it.
Basically, what I want to know is, where do we stand? I received my confirmation in the post today so I now have it in writing, so to speak. Can they demand more money from us or do they have to honour the original agreed price?
Regards
this exact same thing happened to me a few years ago, when TA was called lunn poly and TO airtours , i booked it through lunn poly paid deposit and even queried the price and got agent to check price and call me back as it was such a good price to lykia world, she confirmed it and i then received a booking confirmation from lunn poly about a week or so later i had a call from lunn poly telling me there had been an error on the internet booking site and airtours wanted another £1000, i tried everyway to get this sorted, by contacting airtours and lunn polys head office no one would budge or even give me any help at all it was pay up the grand extra or cancel and get deposit back, the reason they did this was because i hadnt received the airtours confirmation which apparantly is the contract. it seems one rule for them and 1 for customers as im sure if it had been the other way round and i had needed to cancel i would have lost all my deposits. so i would say it depends if you have confirmation from the TO too, dont know anything about direct holidays , i hope you dont have the problems i did, good luck
Dont worry Vodkafreak,My friend has just been to Lanzarote with Direct holidays and it cost her and her husband £200 each less than the same holiday would have cost her with Thomas Cook!.I found the holiday for her on the Direct website and when she phoned Direct they quoted her the Thomas Cook price at first then when she told them it was a Direct holiday she got it at their price. She also had 20 kgs allowance even though she travelled on a Thomas Cook flight.
I know holidays go up and down all the time in price but, bearing in mind, that this is for Summer 09' and the holidays only became available last week they don't usually change them that quick or by that much, also we aren't using free child places or anything like that which could affect the price.
I honestly think that they had priced it up incorrectly and have now realised their error, it's just remains to be seen whether they let it go.
Having looked again at the documentation that I received today, It clearly states on it that it is my booking comnfirmation and final invoice.
Well fingers crossed that we get it at the agreed price, only time will tell, and there's plenty of that until we go!!!
Thanks for the replies
I wouldn't worry. A couple of years ago I was looking for a cheap winter break online & came across a ridiculously cheap one funnily enough to Fuerteventura with Direct Holidays. I booked it immediately & received confirmation back confirming the price, Accomodation & amount paid ( I had to pay in full as it was only 6 weeks away). When we studied the confirmation further, they had charged 2 Adults @ child price & 1 child @ adult price plus 1 free child place. I spent 6 weeks waiting for them to contact us about it and informing us of their error but they never did.
I wouldn't worry either - The price will be correct, - direct holidays are (usually) much much cheaper than other tour operators!
