I am planning my first visit to Crete and it looks like I shall have to go independently to get the hotel I want as it doesn't seem to appear in the brochures. (Aquila Porto Rethymnon). I can buy just flights from Luton and book the hotel direct on their website. However, how much should I factor in for the transfers to and from Heraklion airport?
(I am assuming there is a taxi rank outside where we can just climb into one and go). Am I right in thinking it should take about an hour from the airport?

The main reason I fancy this hotel is that it is walking distance from the town centre and old town and we therefore leave our options open as to whether we hire a car as we could use local buses (which we like to do).

Any comments or advice would be much appreciated.
