Hi Fire_Trust

Never been to Bulgaria before, is Golden Sands starting to close down over this period ?

Things start to wind down around mid-September, so everything should still be in full swing during your visit.

Also one our party is slightly disabled, does anyone know if wheelchairs can be hired in the resort ?

I don't know about Golden Sands specifically, but mobility generally in Bulgaria has a pretty low priority - usually restricted to the odd dropped pavement. Golden Sands is a fairly hilly resort - unless someone is aware of wheelchair hire facilities, it's probably advisable to take one.

We have not been informed or found any changed to our flights from Balkan for the mo--just keeping our fingers XX.

Are you aware of this (somewhat confusing) information from the Balkan Holidays website?

23/08 (BGH5526) East Midlands - Varna 08:50 / 14:10 Charter

Outward Flight: Please note the inbound flight from Varna to East Midlands will operate via Manchester Airport and will touch down for approximately 60 minutes to pickup/dropoff passengers.

06/09 (BGH5525) Varna - East Midlands 05:00 / 08:00 Charter

Return Flight: Please note the inbound flight from Varna to East Midlands will operate via Manchester Airport and will touch down for approximately 60 minutes to pickup/dropoff passengers.

Re wheelchair, info from my friend living in Varna and she doesn't know of anywhere you can hire one from, definitely take one from UK.

The whole of the sea side at Golden Sands from the marina at the north to the Bolero at the south is wheelchair friendly, but everything behind that is up-hill.

In Varna, the sea-gardens and the main pedestrian shopping area is OK but around the cathedral & shopping areas away from the sea are a complete nightmare.

I have mobility problems so speak from personal experience.

Many Thanks for the replys, Looks like we shall have to take one or a quick visit to ebay for a lightweight travel one.

Baldur, no i was not aware of that partically confusing bit of information on Balkans website. we had a letter yeaterday stating that the flights were leaving approx 20mins from advertised times. Hopefully no lugguge will disappear if we are going via Manchester.
