Hi, Sorry have no experience of the Pyramisa but having been to Hurghada 6 times and Sharm 3 can definately say that Hurghada has a quite a different feel to it from Sharm. The area is a bit shabbier and there is more construction but it has a less touristy, more Egyptian feel despite being a tourist town. There are fewer English there, although the number is increasing.

Regarding hotels, there are some very good ones and some less so just as in Sharm and if you tend to stay within the hotel complex the main difference you will find is that you hear fewer English voices. Fewer hotels have a house reef for snorkelling and most are built on the level as opposed to many on cliffs in Sharm (eg those at Sharks Bay) which makes them easier for those with walking difficulties. Snorkelling is available from boat trips - would certainly recommend trip to Giftun Island.

If you want to visit Luxor or Cairo by coach they are more accessible than from Sharm - about 4 hours to Luxor and 8 (I think) to Cairo.

The airport offers better opportunities for last minute gift buying than Sharm. There are lots of souvenir shops airside selling the same sort of thing you can buy throughout Hurghada and at similar prices - still haggle though! This is ideal for those who don't like the Egyptian shopping experience - the shop keepers are even pushier in Hurghada than in Sharm.

Pyramisa Blue Lagoon is a fairly new Hotel with a very experienced Manager who believes his guests are entitled to the best he can offer. He used to manage the Pyramisa in Luxor.

Although not right in the centre of town, everywhere is easily accessible, either by taxi (of which there are many) or by local Arabia.

Not too far from some good restaurants/cafes.
