I was going to post this under Delhi Belly but since this seems to be a 'wonder' cure for internal parasites and also boosts the immune system it's maybe worthy of a separate thread.
Essential Oil of Oregano capsules
Anyone use this?
I've had a very bad stomach/intestinal problem for over a year since last time I was in Goa. Startied taking Oregano capsules and it seems to be a bit of a miracle cure all. They will apparantly kill parasites in the gut as well as help stabilise.
I reckon this along with Acidophillus could be the wonder combination to take to avoid/kill any stomach threatening bugs.
Anyone out there any thoughts on this.
Sounds interesting, where do I get it from please
Whether it works or not, I have no idea. I think it's claimed to have properties that are fight the growth of candida in the gut. Whether that's by encouraging the growth of "friendly" bacteria or having anti-candida properties, or having anti-bacterial properties, it's not clear. I've seen different sites claiming different things! I've seen it advised against for pregnant women and epilepsy sufferers.
Please remember that although it is ok to ask for other member's experiences with medication, the only advice you can safely follow is your GP's.
The sites advertising the natural remedies can't really seem to agree on what the products are supposed to do, or how. There different causes of what people refer to as delhi belly, and in a hot climate particularly (or if you have other medical conditions) you can become very ill without the right treatment.

I was only making a suggestion that these might keep any bugs at bay. I would recommend that anyone with any gastric complaint while in India, call a doctor REGARDLESS, it's cheap and professional.
I'm just wanting to do the best to protect/preserve my immune system from getting a virus the next time round. I've had Gastritis caused by Campylobacter and then IBS which is now levelling off 18 months later... at times makes me miserable.
The great thing about going to a doctor in India is that you can actually find specialists (Panjim, Mapsa, Margao) and pay for consultants at ridiculously cheap rates. My problem here in UK is that word GP, 'General' ... all the doctors/specialists I've seen in Goa have diagnosed quicker than UK. Always ask them for advice on what you have so you can tell your own GP as it will save a lot of time, also what drugs you have taken for the complaint.
Very good prices on Acidophilus and a whole lot more at:
When we go away we use "MultiBionta ProBiotic MultiVitamin" we start taking them a week before we go away and right the way through the holiday one a day and have never had any stomach upsets or illness while away
When we were Condolim the`re we found that Taxidriverpaininneck was quite a common complaint and quite contagious as it was very widespread throughout Goa just about at epidemic level
personally if i had an upset gut for more than a couple of days i would seek medical advice.
id also check with a dr if your already on any meds as some seemingly harmless herbs that are in common use are not good news when mixed with certain drugs.
