Just had a last minue break for one week to Icmeler. It was so good to go back as we tried ovacik last year(nice but not a patch on Icmeler. Stayed at the Palm Garens again and had a great time. It was great to see all the friends we have made over the last 8 years, who said "why did you not come last year?"
We are usually 2 families, but our dear friend Ray passed away in January so this year it was just me, his Partner Bev and my son Ash (15)
We had a great time, went to loads of different resturants and bars and had a good laugh which did Bev a world of good. Spent most days chilling by the pool as it was really hot (46 degrees one day)
One word of warning though. One night we ventured to Deniz Kapizi ( Been before) and as usual the waiters were asking ladies to dance. After 2 drinks and a couple of songs on the Kareoke, just before closing we were asked to dance again. The waiter asked me if I had a boyfriend to which I replied No, but my husband was at work. To my horror and amazement he asked if I liked him, or would I like to choose another waiter. I told him I had my son with me as my bodyguard. "that is not a problem, you choose who you like." I was appalled, what I thought was a Family bar was now a pick up joint. Bev was trying to escape from a waiter too so we asked for the bill so we could make a quick getaway. Looking round we saw the place was almost empty and they were taking their time over the bill. we began to feel a bit panicky and asked for the bill again, paid and left swiftly. felt a bit saddened that as Mature women on holiday without partners, that we were easy targets. I saw in other bars that some women do go out to pick up young handsome turkish men, but we gave out no signals whatsoever, as that is not what we went on holiday for. Told our friend Ali who owns the Palm Gardens and he was disgusted. He asked me to warn others by writing on here.
Enjoyed another night in the Korsan bar, the entertainment was very good but again Bev was pestered by a waiter so we drank up and left, going back to safety of the bar at our apartments.
Took Ash to Pleasure on sunday night with Ali and JeyJey the barmen coming along as "bodyguards" Was pleasantly suprised as we have always joked about Pleasure over the years, thought it was better than the beach Club in Marmaris.
Had a great week, wish it had been for 2 weeks and that we could go back in September, but booked for Florida in October. Still there's always next year, with Hubby coming too.
