we have a general discussion on the Evro [euro] here

prices have not risen much in Greece as far as i could see last month, HOWEVER the pound is worth about 20% less than a year ago when you exchange currencies, this inevitably makes every thing more expensive for those outside the euro countries

Surging energy and food costs pushed Greece's national measure of consumer price inflation to a 10-year high of 4.9 percent in May, above economist forecasts, the country's statistics service (NSS) said on Monday.

Simple answer, yes. But it's not just the euro. Fuel prices (and everything needs to be transported) are a serious problem too.

We returned from Ayios Stephanos (Nth-East) yesterday. Two years ago we were able to enjoy a splendid meal for four adults with drinks for around 50 euros. This year it was costing 70 euros minimum.
Prices will certianly be lower in the larger resorts but don't expect a cheapy holiday, especially if you like a drink.

And the locals aren't profiteering. Their margins are being squeezed and they are desperately worried about visitor numbers dropping.
