I accumulated the following about Goa from different posts posted by others over the years. I am sure there is more to Goa than what is listed here... please feel free to add more. I think I have done about 30% of what I have listed below:
...Betty's boat trip (http://www.bettysgoa.com/) so relaxing sailing down the river sal eating king prawns in garlic butter
and drinking kingfisher (also in Cavelosim, South Goa). Unlimited drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).
Betty's boat trips are run from behind betty's restaurant which backs on to the river sal but you can book it at their
beach shack which is also called betty's . you meet at the restaurant at approx 9.45 am , when you board the boat you are
provided with a bird book and binoculars the crew are quite knowledgable and point out various birds. They sail out to
sea to see the dolphins which we have always seen then back up river all inc drinks soft and alcohol. starters king
prawns in garlic butter with fresh bread main course king fish mixed rice & salad desert fresh fruit salad
there is a toilet on board
....Hire a tourist taxi for the day,
.....Visit Dudhsagar waterfalls they are well worth the journey from wherever you are in staying in Goa. The jeep ride to
go the last 14 kilometeres is an experince you will never forget, Feeding the monkeys whilst you are there and swimming
in the water at the base of the falls make it an unforgettable experience.
......The Go-Karting in Arpora (near Baga beach) is very good fun and very cheap too.
.......I would not miss out on a georgeous massage on the beach (especially the coconut oil massage).
........A meal at East meets West in Baga.
.........A few sundowners at my fave beach shack while watching the sunset - pure magic...
..........For excellent food, the Oceanic shack in Baga beach is not to be missed.
...........Watching the live bands at Anjuna on Wednesday's (flea market) with a cocktail while the sun sets in the distance...lovely!!!
There's a real mix of music up at Anjuna on Wednesdays, it's usually the old European hippies and the likes but you
do get some Indian artists playing there too. The atmosphere is enjoyable more than anything else.
............Visit the Spice plantations.
.............Bath elephants (INVALID URL
..............Swimming is quite dangerous in all the beaches, mainly in North Goa. Always ask locals before going deep into the sea.
...............For nightlife, check out the following website: http://www.goa-holidays-and-hotels.com/goa-nightlife.html
I used to frequent Titos and Mambo's at Baga Beach and Matrix in Arpora. Club Cabana (night club) in Arpora
(about 15 mins from Baga Beach) is one I missed which I believe is the best. It's on top of a hill with a swimming
pool and the entry fee includes unlimited drinks. I believe this place is a bit trendy.
................A visit to the local vegetable and fish market...
To be honest, this post is really useful, as this year i said we needed to do more things than just laze on the beach and eat lots
Some nice suggestions....and to add those made in the following thread too
Just a quick update on venues folks, matrix and club cabana have now been closed for good, but there is a cool place in baga called "Loungefly" bit expensive but well worth a visit good music and atmosphere, different events on throughout the season, please dont forget also many shacks along the anjuna/calangute had to close at 11pm due to the police curfew after SK murder!!!!!!!!
Probably discovered by now... this website has some good maps of Goa... (just click on any of the beach areas and it will take you to a local map of that area, I find this very useful).
Down South, I used to love going cycling before breakfast and watching life go by... so peaceful.
A lot of people go to Goa expecting nightlife but miss out on the best part of the day.
Hire a mo-ped and travel to one of the more Northern beaches like Mandrem and stay in a beach hut overnight, a great experience. We booked in advance and pre-ordered lobsters, had a great meal, then played cards by candle light. Was lovely to be woken up by the sound of the waves crashing on the shore !! Then another day on the beach !!
Colva was different in the morning, there were more people on the beach, fishermen, and shack workers religiously involved in their morning ablution - it was beautiful as the sky turned blue from a strange mixture of orange and grey"¦
Come January 2009"¦ I am going to experience the beauty of Goa once again"¦.
playing in beach, and take sun bath
