Not been there myself ,but most places are the same when it comes to staying safe .A cousin of mine travels all over the world herself and she told me once that the best thing to do when alone on holiday is to strike up a friendship with a single mother with one or two kids with her ,when she went out and about with them it meant the local romeos did not hit on her the same. Apart from that just take the same precautions you would at home ,dont go anywhere with anyone unless you are in company that you know, stay in brightly lit streets ,try to share a cab and never leave your drink when you are at the loo ,just basic things ,i am sure you will be alright if you follow all the basic things ,just stay alert and enjoy your holiday ,let us know how you get on . regards bluepeterno1  :sun2

Altinkum is great go to sonias cafe bar just down from the miletos she is from gateshead and has lived there for approx 12 yrs, she can give you loads of info if you need it. I have been there on my own before without any problems just do as bluepetreno1 says and don`t take risks.

When I was in Turkey last - in Kusadasi a year ago - I found the constant hassling by shop owners/market stall vendors very annoying. I bought a scarf and covered my head and shoulders and wore sunglasses, and got at least a minute or two's peace to look at what I wanted before I was invited to buy something ...............
