Hi there , I am just back from a wonderful stay in Bangkok ( my 7th) we had a night there on the way to Saigon and 2 nights on the way home, still love this city , will never tire of it.
Highlights this time , Chatuchak market , awesome place for shopaholics like me, spent 4 hours last saturday afternoon and bought absolutely loads, luckily we travelled light so we could shop to our hearts content, bought loads of 'housey' things and some xmas pressies.
Bought loads of great Asia books in Bookazine on Sukhumvit Rd , keep me happy until my next trip.
Had a lovely thai meal in Tuptim on Soi Rambuttri , but I was dissapointed in Cabbages and condoms, went there years ago and loved it, but now it has been extended I think it is too touristy and the food was bland.
Ate breakfast at foodland for 59 baht , bargain !! then a lovely breakfast at the landmark bakery for 299 baht which was beautiful.
Had a good few drinks in Gullivers near our hotel the Bel Aire Princess , and a few more on the bar on the corner of soi 5 and sukhumvit which is great for people watching.
Had good weather so enjoyed some time by the pool.
Had a lovely facial and facial threading at a beauty parlour on Soi 5 , so cheap, then decided to have a massage just off Soi 5 , but when I went in decided this place was 'dodgy' if you know what I mean so it was not as relaxing as it should have been, could not wait to get out
Had a lotus flower tattoo in a great place in the Tunnel which is between soi 5 and 7 , great hygenic place, all in all a great time in Bangkok yet again which I am sure will not be the last as I just love the place
I know of others who lost their heart in Cambodia, one lady financed a toilet in a school, prior to that they had no loo at all.
Cheers Geri
we were disappointed a bit in Cabbages and Condoms as well. The food quality was definitely not the same but as we were there over the New year period we found the unusual decorations interesting- santa will never quite look the same again
