Hi folks
Just wondering if there's a place, or shop somewhere in Malta, where you can buy a home grown tobacco?
Jut prefer local products anywhere I go.
Also, where I can buy locally produced Wine or get a sample of authentic Maltese cuisine (don't like multinationals that much and they all taste the same anyway).
Do you know good place for live rock music, or jazz, blues of whatever similar.
I am going to St Julian with my missis in September.
if the former, there is a cigarette manufacturing plant in Malta, but AFAIK no tobacco grown other than possible personal consumption)
where I can buy locally produced Wine - practically everywhere
what I mean by home grown "tobacco" is a situation in which you go to the local market and buy tobacco from people who grow and sell their products, such as veggies and fruits.
I know that you can buy tobacco in Croatia and Herzegovina, on the market stall (used to get it from there via friends who went there: much better quality than factory "branded" tobacco.)
Even my grandfather used to grow it himself. So I am just curious if there's something like that over there, so I can get it for myself.
Cheers
I have it on very good authority that there is a considerable amount of herball happiness tobacco grown in Malta, there is also copious amounts of international disco sherbert are available also , it's all a mugs game if you ask me, a good few pints and a couple of rums does me
Thanks..
I am only looking for a proper hand rolling tobacco, the other varieties of herbal "remedies" do not interest me at all.
Tried them once or twice, did not like them and found out that Vodka, mixed with Pink Floyd does the job.
cheers
there used to be a tobacco merchant down merchants street, but that was years ago. you could choose from hands of tobacco hanging from the ceiling then he would shred it for you and wrap it. but that was years ago not sure if he is still there.
cheers
I did see it for sale a few years ago (4/5 ?) at the Sunday Morning market at the side of the bus station, as I said it was a few years ago so I don't know if you will still be able to buy it there.
Thanks, I'll have a look but where's the merchant street?
Merchant street runs parallel with Republic street which is the main shopping street in Valletta, if you enter Valletta through the main city gate near the Triton Fountain / bus station that is you looking down Republic street. Merchant Street runs parallel to it on the righthand side as you look down.
