Done the trip in the opposite direction ie Rhodes to Marmaris. Port tax was 1 Euro Rhodes 14 Euros Marmaris. I am told the Marmaris port is a private one and that why its so much.

I visited Rhodes from Marmaris a couple of years back and don't recall having to pay anything extra, just the fare. If you are entering Turkey from the UK then you will have your visa sticker in your passport so you don't have to pay again.

No you dont pay anything extra for visa etc to get into Rhodes ... what I was meaning the return day trip from Marmaris to Rhodes cost 35 euros but on top of this you have to pay port taxes on arrival at marmaris port of 15 euros per person. hope that clears it up.
