Hi All,
Got back from Mallorca yesterday, fantastic holiday but had a delay on the outbound flight. We arrived at the airport around 9am for our 2pm flight (yes we like to be early) They had check-in desks open for flights with first choice all day so we was able to check in straight away, it got to around 11am and they changed the departure time to 3pm, then around 15 mins later changed it to an 8pm departure, we wasn't to bothered as we dont mind being in airports, we each got an £8 voucher that we was able to spend for refreshments as well. So it got to 7ish and was time for boarding at last we all thought, however once we had got into the departure lounge we was kept in there for around an hour absolutely boiling hot, we eventually took off around 9pm, this meant that we did not get into our accomodation till around 2am once we had found the taxi service that had gone missing waiting for us.
The reason for the delay was technical problems and in the end we ended up going on a thomson 767-300.
So is there anything else we can claim, or will they have covered themselves with the £8 refreshment voucher, because at the end of the day the delay meant us missing a whole evening in the villa and the only saturday night we had out.
Cheers
Sam
Unfortunately, I think you will find that First Choice have provided exactly what they are required to provide in terms of refreshment for a 7 hour delay, and you will have no further comeback with them. You can also claim for delays through your travel insurance but most policies will only pay out after 12 hours. One to put down to experience I'm afraid
agree with cazzholly. The £8 refreshment voucher was your "compensation"
I thought that would be the case, thanks for your responses.
