On a similar subject - does anyone know a good way of getting white deodorant stains out of black tops?

Do you mean how to wash the stains out or how to remove/avoid getting them on clothes whilst wearing them? I wear a lot of black linen clothes and find that any staining on the inside comes out quite easily with a good bio detergent and some Vanish.

However, if you mean white marks showing when wearing them, then I find prevention better than cure and use a Dove cream deoderant/anti-perspirant. Unlike roll-ons or sticks it doesn't seem to rub off on clothes but are you sure the problem is your deoderant? Sweat will dry white on black clothes because of the salt content and frankly, I've given up taking black clothes to Cuba for this very reason. However, I do find it really useful to carry around a small piece of those sponge scourers you can use on non-stick pans etc - you know the sort, block of green sponge with a rough white surface on one side. One cut in half doesn't take up much room in a bag and rubbed dry over the white marks left by both deoderants and dried sweat works wonders You might attract some strange looks in the 'Ladies' as you appear to be vigorously scrubbing your armpits fully clothed but it does work!

I discovered this by chance because these pan scrubbers are excellent at removing pet hairs from clothes too. Much more effective than any of those sticky roller things and as the owner of 5 cats I found this tip brilliant for a quick de-fluff as I arrived at work! But then discovered as a result that they also removed lots of marks too.

My reply has been delayed while I tried out everyone's suggestions - but I think the upshot is that I will have to let some of my tops go to the clothes graveyard! It's sleevless tops that are the problem - I also get the same thing with black bras after a while and I can't work out if it's a build up of deodorant or washing powder. Good excuse for more shopping anyway!

Another tip when you get deodorant on your clothes is to wait until it's dry and it should just brush off with a clothes brush. I always keep one to hand and always take one away on hols for this purpose :)

I read that new white marks that appear when you just put on your black top can be removed with a babywipe or facial wipe. I've tried it and it does work.

i sweat when im cold, it runs down my arms,,,,,,, its like the other make, you apply it at night and wash off in the morning, after about 2 days, no sweat at all, its must shrink the sweat glands up
it does itch if it goes on the unhairy bits or me underarms, or i over use it, but i leave it off then and wait a few days,

You know it says 48 hours on the bottle....well, are you only meant to use it every other day or is it that it could be effective for 2 days? Complete dryness is all well and good but I like my skin to be able to breathe once in a while. It doesn't seem to shift even after soap and water in the shower. Any thoughts?

Think it could be effective for 2 days. I used it for my hols. The day we came home we had a stupid o'clock flight which was delayed till 8.30am! Now, I'd showered at 6.30pm the previous day, got home about 1pm and before I had my shower at 9pm, my armpits were still smelling sweet 27.5 hours later, so yes I think it would go the distance.
I don't have any problem shifting it in the shower. :que
