I went to Cyprus in October a couple of years ago and it was perfect! bakingly hot, that goodness for aircon. We stayed in Limassol so it was a little bizarre going for a swim in the still beautifully warm Med, then seeing Christmas decorations in Woolworths on the seafront!

Evenings were perfect for eating outside, and getting about, hot enough to go to the Waterpark as Fasouri (Watermania - its superb!) A trip to Nicosia proved extremely hot - 100 degrees in the baking sun - but such a fascinating city.

The only thing might be is that some places were closing down for the end of the season. The waterpark was in its last week, not sure of its closing times this year (but easy to Google to find out) - so that might be something to consider. Tenerife being of course the year round place it is probably wouldnt be closing down - especially as we're talking near half term holidays.

I love Tenerife too - so difficult to choose, but I would personally go to Cyprus. I loved the place, the people, the Keo beer, the Commandaria Wine, the food, the places to see - and driving on the left! I will drive on the right but I'm much happier on the left!!

i got told that clocks go back or forward !!! in october in cyprus, and you only get a few hours of sun.
is that right.

The clocks go back on same day as they do in UK. Whatever the time of year, Cyprus is always 2hrs ahead of UK time.

We usually find the mornings get a little cooler towards the end of October but once the clocks go back and the sun has had an extra hour to warm through, we find it's very pleasant...

The sun in winter time is stronger in the morning from around 9am until about 2pm - after that it starts to cool down and is generally dark between 5pm and 6pm.

My parents come to visit us for a month each November and temperatures range between 20c - 23c on average.

The evenings feel cooler because of the constant daytime temperatures so you may need to bring a sweater or a fleece. It's also possible to get some rain but nothing is guaranteed. 2yrs ago we had horrendous rainstorms during the half term school holidays and 2 people were killed in Paphos during a deluge.

When it rains - you certainly know about it as it can come down really hard but then can suddenly stop, the skies are brilliant blue and the streets will be steaming with the sun streaming down on the wet roads...

Usually, the weather doesn't turn really cold until after New Year and Jan/Feb are our coldest months. We rarely get temperatures below 5c and still tend to stay in double figures in the daytime all through the winter months.

We've actually been in the sea on 5th December in Ayia Napa (back in 1992) when we were here on holiday. There's absolutely no way we would even consider it now after living here for almost 5yrs! But, we still see holidaymakers in their shorts and t-shirts in December walking in the tourist areas.

protaras in july and august, but never been paphos side. would u recomend paphos in october.

I always find it's a bit breezier in Paphos than it is where we live in Limassol so usually feels a bit cooler.

Now, the sun rises in the East so it's possible the sun will be up earlier in Protaras but may go dark a few minutes earlier in the West (Paphos), where apparently they have magnificent sunsets

Looks like the choice is yours
