Hello all been off HT for a while but now back! requiring any updates on Santiago Hotel in Baga - anyone been there or going there this season let us know what you think!
Did'nt realise when we booked but arriving on Easter Day - will there be much happening to celebrate?
And is the Night Market still going in April did so love that last time?
Thanks ALL! x
We have reviews but would anyone in the know give their opinion on what this hotel/resort should be known as, as it could be confusing in reviews.
Thanks
Hope this makes sense x lassi
The Santiago is the sister hotel to Sun Village in Arpora and the Santa Rita in candloim and Horizon in Calangute all the De'souza group, I stayed in the Santiago many years ago, and it was far better than the Sun village even though the star rating is higher in SV, the staff are lovely and freindly, wonder if Parlo and David are still there, it was very basic when we stayed there but none the less clean and the food good and plenty of choices.
Thanks Lassigirl - I'll amend when someone can also tell me if the correct resort description should be Calangute or Baga
I am due their on the 17th November 2008 for a couple of weeks, so I will report back, but knowing it as I do , I don't suppose much will have changed, same staff, same excellent food.
Any further information mrfrostie pm me.
Definately Baga Glynis, and it is a resort??
And yes poppetjay, Paulo and David are still there, no doubt running there usual scams
Regards to all - wish I was there now
I agree with Rokerender it is our favourite hotel in Goa, the staff make it special. Its the only place Rokerender offers to get the round in (all Inclusive)
Thank you all -look forward to holiday truthers reporting back!
Definately Baga Glynis, and it is a resort??
I don't know Goa/India at all hence me asking the members for assistance. We need a resort for the hotel reviews and I've seen conflicting listings. Once I'm assured of the correct resort then I will amend the hotel etc (Just trying to get the info correct)
Thanks

The review on the hotel forum for The Santiago Hotel Calangute
is the right one for the Santiago resort in Baga
Its address is Calangute/Baga so it is actually the same place (are u confused yet)
It is a great hotel we are hoping to go back Nov 2009
The food and drink are great rooms a bit basic but ok
Its position is brill near enough to everything but once you get inside the grounds you can not hear the traffic
it is a little oasis in the heart of everything.
What makes it extra special is the staff, they make you feel so welcome Paullo and David especially
we always pop in to see them when we are up north we are going to see them when we come up for the meet
on Nov 23rd Pat
What is Easter going to be like- busy with Indian tourists?
I 've never been that late in the season but if its anything like Diwalli, which is on now , it will be mad.Last year was a little later in November , and you could not move in Baga/Calungute.
Its the only place Rokerender offers to get the round in (all Inclusive)
Paul You know the black cat never gives me any money, or maybe she does'nt trust me , and I told her she still owes you a drink.
great minds think alike or fools seldom differ
hope to see you soon arnt you coming to the meet
Pat and Smudger 2 sorry
We were there this year at Easter time and it was manic, all the cars were queued nose to tail with Mumbai plates etc on them. TBH I didnt really like it, far too busy for me. Took us ages in a taxi to get from Baga to Sendra's in Calangute.
Hi Mr Frostie yes its busy at Easter but it is nothing like Xmas where it is just chaos i said i would never do it again ever but hey Ho of we go again this Xmas and we will also be there Easter so may get to meet you. Just go and enjoy.
Pip
At least our second week-(the last of the season?) will be more serene?
Yes Mr Frostie it will be totally fine. Over Easter its only busy for a couple of days then calms down again. As Walks says just go and enjoy yourself, which I am sure you will!
