Could do with some help from the knowledgable mob on here. My dilema is the fact my missus and kids just want pool, beach, sun. I prefer to find other things to do, Mountain biking, snorkel, scuba. Is there anywhere on the Island where there is an abundance of activities to stop me getting bored and annoying everyone in my party??
Been to Crete three times before (staying at big body builder's apartments called Panos in Malia, what a great lad- he could pull 'em!!) but didn't get chance to look into, or do, any of these kinds of activities. Would ask Panos if still had his number, if he's even still there.
Look forward to suggestions
Thanks Marko
mountain biking, im sure you can hire them from shops in malia for a small fee and head up to Lassithi.
Also try the jeep safari, this is where you can get the wife and kids out on an enjoyable day + they get to relax on the beach at some point in the trip too.
, but please make sure you all stay safe. This activity has caused several unnecessary injuries this year amongst clients. Also try the jeep safari
You might also like to trade shopping (!) with a visit to Knossos in Heraklion, and of course you can always take an organised tour to walk the Samarian Gorge ................ it isn't particularly easy to do this yourself by public transport because it's a 'one way' circuit and might require you to overnight in Heraklion to get a bus at about 4 am and then get back from Heraklion to your hotel late evening ....
Thanks for the ideas so far. It may have been the misleading way I worded my original question, but I don't particularly want to stop in Malia this time. I am looking for somewhere on the island which will suit my activity stuff, with the rest of the family's desire to basically crash out in the sun. Thanks for the tip on the Jeep safaris, as was quite taken with the idea of these. Will have to be careful
star beach for the kids also and the bungee rocket for you, horse riding stables with gregories horses also. Plus there is a good scuba centre here and some excellent dive points. Plus quiter nightlife in the hills and old village also.
Sounds pretty fantastic, sorry for more q's, but, is there much in the way of mountain biking? Not necessarily on doorstep, but accessible nearby?
yeh i would say more to the lassithi area, theres a guide on moutnain biking here, plus a few more activities.
waterparks, bowling. so your spoilt for choice!
We base ourselves at Almyrida/Kalyves area, with plenty of shops and taverna's and easy access to the national road If you fancy a trip to Chania or Rethymno for shopping or eating,
we have an apartment there so it must be good. Have a look http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/greece/GR630.htm
All the best
