Are you sure about that? The hotel gets dreadful reviews. Have a look!

I have been advised not to go any less than 4* A/I in Turkey. I was in Marmaris in October A/I 4* and it was fine.

I also tried Ai for the 1st time in October this year in a 4 star, Food was repetitive, Beer was flat, I actually spent the last 3 days of the 7 day holiday outwith my All inclusive, Never again for me, Only Self catering for me in the future.

I can see how A/I would suit people with children and a strict budget to stick to. I prefer B&B so I can leave the hotel in the morning and stay out for the day. Too many A/I hotels will kill a resort - where are the bars and restaurants meant to get their customers if they are all scoffing piles of bland A/I food in some huge hotel somewhere? The idea of staying all day in a huge hotel with one of those dreadful "animation" teams would leave me with no will to live at all.

Turkey is full of some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life - I cannot wait to get out among them - not lying in a sunbed on a production line by the pool just waiting to be "animated" by some irritating numpty in a gaudy t shirt.

I have never had food in a hotel which is better than food in a reasonable restaurant. Never. Not once.

Only once have we stayed half board (breakfast and dinner) and several nights we just had to go out and leave the "free" glop for the others and buy something a bit more appetising.

I'm sure A/I is good value. I'm sure it makes budgeting easier. I'm sure "animation" teams and other means of keeping your ankle snappers amused while you chill out is why you do, it but I'll stick to the real Turkey with all it has to offer.

Ian, you have just said exactly what I think too. I started a post about the way AI is killing off local business some time back but some people do seem to love AI. Each to their own but I agree the real Turkey is so much better. Even with young children and a budget self catering is still the better option for us. I'm sure the animation team would scare the life out of my children anyway :rofl

When we went B&B in Icmeler last October we met a lovely couple who had never been to Turkey before and had the misfortune to book one of the infamous Litera hotels. When they ate out with us a lot of the waiters commented to them that they had their "hospital bracelet" on. :rofl
