Hi hillbankdee ... I have merged your enquiry with this existing Jabeque Apts topic. Posts immediately prior to yours may throw a little more light on the subject for you.
Has anybody been there recently?
There are very few recent reviews for this hotel.
If anyone has been I would like to know a little about the apartments and the area Playa den Bossa please
We went to the Jabeque end of May time a couple of years ago & it was fine. There were 2 pools, I remember though that the poolside music played non stop quite loudly for best part of the day and evening, not that it bothered me too much. You had to walk down the side street it was on down to not much of a beach strip from what we could see, there was also another hotel you could use should you want to enjoy more better facilities. My kids played football up there by the entertainment team daily who also got them involved in other activities too. Evening times were spent going up to the main road and going into either Ibiza town in one direction or Playa den Bossa the other way. Both were taxi rides. Hotel entertainment was ok but was not outdoors, perhaps time of season? Low ceiling entertainment room, but people smoked outside so it wasn't too bad. All in all we had a good time.
Merged with existing topic.
It's 10 years since I stopped at the Jabeque but I have booked for September. I remember it was a great place to stay but it has changed hands; previous posts refer. However, there seemed to be a doubt whether or not we could book in a package. I have booked these apartments today through Direct Holidays so I would have thought that things remain unchanged, apart from ownership of course. If anyone has stayed at these apartments recently, I, as well as others I imagine, would like to hear from you. There hasn't been any reviews since August 2007.
gps group now owned this place.refit is ok.food is poor.so eat out or cook yourself.still the same cheap place to stay really
dj, I'm self catering so I've no intention of eating their nosh. Just need a place to rest my old and tired body.
I go in less than 2 weeks to Jabeque, also with direct holidays, so I'll be sure to come back and post some comments here.
I've found more reviews since my post, very mixed, some a little worrying but I will judge myself soon :p
I'll look forward to your report bags. I try not to take notice of what others say (especially the bad stuff) as everyone has their own opinion and standards but an up to date report would be good, especially as you are Direct Holidays. Went to Benidorm with DH last month, couldn't fault them.
Came by to drop my review on Jabeque:
I would give Jabeque 3 out of 5.
The apartments are spacious and contain all you need. Nice bathroom with hairdryer attached to wall, small kitchen, separate bedroom, good aircon and all with seaviews from the balcony with table and 2 chairs. The pools were fantastic, a choice of 2. One quieter than the other, empty until about 10-11 am and again empty by 6. The poolbar was open every day and the drinks were a little cheaper than most bars.
I found that the location was fantastic. The 2 mile beach (the best on the Island) is just a couple of minutes away. Turn left towards Playa den Bossa as you exit the apartments. I spent ages on the beach, snorkelling in the sea and there is a great bar called the Bull on the beach front where its buy one get one free on most drinks all of the time (2 pints 4 Euro, 2 cocktails 6 Euro), they have sunbeds outside to hire, little expensive at 12 Euros for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella but if you are going to spend the day there its well worth it.
If you go right out of the apartments it takes about 5 mins to get to Figuerettes beach which is 1 mile long and also as some very nice restaurants on the beach front. Here there are always taxis you can jump into and only 5-6 Euros to Ibiza town.
We took a cruise to Furterventura (however its spelt ;p) costing 20 euros each. To be honest I wouldn't really bother with this if you only have 1 week. The viewing on the glass bottom boat was only waves rushing underneath. This island seemed even hotter than Ibiza, in fact scorching, a little too hot for me to enjoy. Not really worth visiting as seems just like another mirror of Ibiza but a 50 min boat trip each way.
After wasting money on food shopping in the little shops which sell beach gear, I discovered the supermarket up the road. As you exit apartments go right, cross over and turn left (2 mins away). The prices in there are less than half the price of the other shops (0.39 can of coke, 1 Euro litre of San Miguel).
There was some bad points as to why I never rated this apartment higher. I think we got the short straw with the choice of apartments as we were on the front of the apartments over the cafe across the road and opposite the 18-30 hotel. The windows were open all night, unable to close them so sometimes sleeping was inpossible. Motorbikes, singing, laughing all through the night. Also the staff were not helpful and fairly grumpy, often argueing. Generally tho the staff were quite good as they did tell people who had there music on loud to turn it off around 11.30 as there are some families with babies trying to sleep. Even tho the description of the hotel states recently renovated there were several items broken in the apartment and the kitchen utensils were filthy. The maids came every day but only made the beds and emptied the bins, no cleaning whatsoever inside the apartments, the table was still stained with coffee from previous occupants.
In all tho I had a fantastic time and would say the good points way outstanded the bad points and out of all the apartments in the area these have to be one of the best. I would maybe even go there again in the future.
Eddie I'm certain you will have a fantastic time, enjoy Direct holidays was also brilliant, even tho we saved about £200 from Thomas cook holidays there is no diffence in treatment we even got free extra leg room exit seats on the plane.
did a big fat guy take money for sunbeds yellow t shirt.
Many thanks for your review
That's a decent write up bags (I've pm'd you). The noise won't bother me, well up to a point anyway. I'm very happy now knowing that apart from a little bit of arguing among the staff and dirt etc you were pleased with the apartments. The Jabeque is well placed isn't it? If that was your first visit to Figueretas it may not be your last. We ended up going five years on the trot in the late nineties but this will be our first visit since 1998.
Going to post up my review of the Jabeque in the appropriate place but just to advise that in my opinion, the Jabeque is still a good place to go but obviously depending on the facilities one requires.
Found a bargain price for a studio here but only reviews/pictures I can find are of apartments which look nice. Price is almost too good to be true so a bit worried about how the studios compare! Just a bit apprehensive about booking without knowing what they're like. Does anyone know?
Oh well I've gone and booked it now - price was ridiculously cheap though so fingers crossed it'll be ok. Stayed at the Ebano last year which was fine & think this is owned by the same group. Hopefully, we'll have better weather this year though & as long as the sun's shining, I'll be happy Already started counting the days
you;r right its gps
Have a look at my review if you haven't already done so. Suited my purpose and I'm nearly 58.
