From salou to port aventura theres nothing... I mean you can go just walking or in bus in 5 /10 minutes depends on where in salou you are in.
Theres not that many all inclusives in Salou but we stayed at the Villa Marina, its very geared up for families with kids clubs and all day entertainment, the foods great and its run by a british manager with quite a few british staff ( all the entertainment team are brits) The rooms are on the small side and basic but are very clean as is the rest of the hotel.
It isnt in the new part of town though, its located in a quiet area of the old town and about a ten minute walk to the beach, if you wasnt to get to the new town area it would take about twenty minutes to walk it but we didnt bother as there was a lot going in te old town. My kids loved it (8 and 10) theres always loads going on, they can go and get ice cream, drinks or snacks at any time and nobody bothered them, if you want any more info please pm me and I will be glad to help.

I can agree with the previous post wholeheartedly. I didn't know it was a British manager now though. What happened to the previous one?
Eva moved on at he start of last season, Lindsey has made some great changes and they are ongoing, the sun terraces have been extended, there will be a roof top patio area with a bar and jaccuzzis on the main building too.

Anyone driven from Girona airport to Cambrils? I can't get public transport for our return trip, because of the time of our flight, so I've no choice but to hire a car. Driving for years, but never on 'the other side of the road' and really nervous about it. I've looked at the costing of airport transfers but return trip was working out more expensive than our total flight! I'm travelling with my young family (10/6/ and 2 years) so I don't want to start the holiday off with me yelling all the way to cambrils! ANY help/directions/where to stop/what to see on the way down would really be appreciated.
Edit: Just noticed in your other post it is coming back that is the problem, so could you not book another night at campsite and use public transport next morning.
Hi there Karen, sorry, DOH...should have put flight times in. Our return flight is 10 in the morning on the 2nd September (Ryanair flight) so we need to be at the airport at 9am at the latest. Earliest train is 7.10 from Cambrils to Barcelona, but we still need to get from Barcelona to Gerona airport (should have booked Dublin Ireland to Reus instead of Shannon Ireland to Gerona!..will know for the next time) We have booked the campsite for a week, so I don't want to cut it short to get accomodation nearer to Gerona to be on time for our return flight. The kids would be so upset, to miss even one night there. I'd prefer to bear the drive back from Cambrils to Gerona. Don't know to be truthful why I'm so nervous about driving over there. I'm sure it will be fine. Just wondered if anyone had done the drive who could offer any advise/put my mind at rest. Thanks for postingx
OK I understand now, I don't drive aboard so can't help but here is a good forum, you may find the answer there or could ask yourself.
Star, thanks a million Karen.
http://www.distance-calculator.co.uk/distance-calculator.php?town1=Girona&town2=Cambrils&ref=no Saw your post in the website I recommended and that is cheap for car hire. Also found a bus Cambrils to Barcelona and one from there (actually to coincide with Ryanair flights) to Girona airport but its about €100 if they charge the same for children. Can give you details if you decide not to drive. Karen
Think your best bet is hire a car for the week. Here is map and directions from airport.
Hi Karen, you're a lifesaver. Yes, carhire was really cheap. We didn't confirm it yet and it's gone up a few euros now, but it's a case of checking each day online and giving them a call (when I called them, he knocked off another few euro too!) They work on commission. Would love to check out your bus idea too, if it's going to coincide with Ryanair flights for the morning. Feeling a bit better about hiring if we have to...but would like to know I've investigated ALL angles!ha
Cambrils to Barcelona: http://www.itenewebs.com/autocaresplana/Documento.asp?w=1&idc=1598&tipo=HORARIOS Bus leaves Cambrils 04.45
Barcelona to Girona airport: http://www.sagales.com/pubdocs/835_barcelona-(estacio-nord)---aeroport-girona-costa-brava-a-partir-de-2008-12-18.pdf
Bus leaves 7.30 for your flight. There is also one which leaves at 7.45 http://www.sagales.com/pubdocs/835_barcelona-(estacio-nord)---aeroport-girona-costa-brava-a-partir-de-2008-12-18.pdf which will get there for 9.00 which should still be ok if I am correct and your flight is actually 10.30. Bus from Cambrils arrives at 07.15 so if it is late gives you more time.
I will do some more checking when I have more time as you can also get off 1st bus at Barcelona airport and there maybe other buses from there or your bus to Girona might also stop there. Karen
Tom Gilboy here from castlebar,
Don't fert about driving in Spain ... once you've clocked up a few miles, you'll get the hang of it ..... the biggest surprise will be whe you return to Shannon and drive out of the car park and begin to wonder 'Are you on the right side ?' When your in a 'new environment' you tend to concentrate more !
What have you being quoted for the weeks rental ?
I'd always recommend someone like Solmar (solmay-online.co.uk) or Amigo Autos (amigoautos.com) as they are quite cheap and include ALL taxes , Insurance and more importantly do NOT charge any damage EXCESS - and both I think also allow 1 additional driver Free Of Charge !!!
I checked Amigo Autos for the 26th. Aug - 2nd. sept and it works out at 140 Euros for a Citroen Berlingo (side sliding doors - very handy with kids) or 164 Euros for a Renault Scenic... believe me its a fair drive from Girona to Salou (practically all motorway - A7 route) and you'll need a fairly comfortable car). Also please remember you'll have to pay Tolls along the way, so have plenty of loose change with you !!
Alway be aware that the Hire Cost quoted does NOT include Fuel, so you'll be charged for a full tank of fuel on collection and be expect to leave it back empty ! You can get around this by checking with the hire office on collection if you can leave the vehicle back with a full tank, that you'll get the money they already charged you, back !
