Hi i'm off to tenerife on friday and i have brought one of these cards, they do seem good value for money with the savings and discounts, especially if there are a few of you going as you only need one card for everyone that is with you.
Would be interested to see what you make of this discount card on your return.
Hi, i went to tenerife last month. We received a green banana card free when we attended the welcome meeting at our hotel. We used it a couple of times at bars, with no hassle. The discounts are mainly for resturants, bars and selected perfume shops round p.d.l.a. When there is a few of you it can give you a bit of a saving. We had a bonus as ours was free, but if u r staying self catering, planning to eat out a few times and visit the bars i think it is worth getting one.
Very good value... especially when there is a fair amount of you. They have taken off very much indeed. Great if you drink around starco and veronicas as the drinks are overpriced already.
Can these be purchased in resort in Los Cristianos if so which shop will sell these. Thanks

Got home and search to find it is a discount card for may restraunts shops and bars but the website says it is excusive to some of the main travel companies.
Can you get this card from other sources? can you buy one?

I was thinking of putting mine on ebay as it is ok untill December 2008. We used it a few times and had no problems.
If you are going to drink a lot in the bars that have it then you will save quite a bit (which you need as the prices seemed much dearer this years holiday due to the weak pound)

do you have to buy these cards? i would of thought they would be free, at least that way more poeople will have and use them, and the end result would benifit not only the card holder but the business's aswelll
I think it depends on the tour operator you go with. I went with Thompsons so got one given otherwise you have to buy them.
we got back on the 27th july and were given a free green banana card on our resort, the number on the front gives you the ability to have very cheap uk calls- from public phones, so we would definateley recommend it
We eat and drink a lot in harrys bar, biancos, monkey bar and monkey beach plus Mrs DM buys 2 or 3 pairs of designer sunglasses in Sunglass hut each visit so we should save a good few euros.
Thanks for the info so far.
Ordered the card yesterday.
A quick tip to save a few euros. I went to Tenerife recently and used the green banana guide discount card and saved quite a few euros. It gives discounts off drinks in lots of bars, 10% in many restaurants and shops etc. They are available for free if you are on a Thomas Cook or Thomson package alternatively you can get one direct from green banana guide.com for a small fee. A special mention goes to the very helpful staff who delivered my card direct to my hotel.
What about if you are on a Thomas Cook flight-only? Suppose you don't get it then?
You only get the cards at the welcome meetings, otherwise you will have to buy one.
Thanks Emskie!
