can any member advise of the proceedure flying from manchester to dalaman via plane change at istanbul,
we are flying with turkish airlines into istanbul the have to wait 90 mins and catch a domestic flight to dalaman,
what happens when we land at istanbul ?.
do our bags get transfered auto matic to the other flight,
do we go to passport control and walk to the domestic terminal [ we have valid visas].
do we land at the domestic [ old terminal at dalaman ].
where do we collect our bags at dalaman.
our booking agent is no help at all hence my request for info..
thanks in advance
when we did this a few years ago, the baggage got automatically changed onto the other plane at istanbul for us. we then went through an area for internal ongoing flights, but did have to go through security and have our handbags /luggage scanned, shoes taken off etc,it was fairly strict compared to the other istanbul airport we went to with easy jet and im sure we had our passports checked
we did this before the new dalaman airport was opened, so cant help you there, but im sure someone will know

We flew Turkish at Christmas via Istanbul from Heathrow. Our UK departure left late and we had to wait to land at Istanbul due to congestion. We had 90 minutes between flights connection but had to clear passport control and run to another terminal for the departure to Dalaman. We found 90 minutes was not enough time and we missed the 'connecting' flight. Turkish Airlines were not at all concerned and just told us we'd have to come back the next day and told us to go and find a hotel (great... with no baggage!). We insisted and were eventually put on a flight to Antalya which meant we had a 3 hour drive when we arrived
I'm not saying we wouldn't ever travel via Istanbul again, but we were told when we complained on our return that the flights are not connecting (even though Expedia sold us them as connecting flights and said we would only have to go to the transit lounge, not a change of terminal!) and that you need to allow at least a 2 hour gap between these flights.
Good luck!

In response to your questions, yes the bags will be checked through to Dalaman. Yes, you go through passport control (we had current visas), yes, the terminal is the old terminal at Dalaman and you collect your bags from here and clear customs.
It works well, as long as you depart the UK on time and there are no long queues at passport control in Istanbul. We could have taken an earlier flight from the UK and wish now that we had changed to give us a 4 hour gap between the flights. If you have the chance to change to an earlier flight, it may be worth doing.
