Hi
We are a family of 4 which includes 2 teenagers aged 17 and 14 and are considering Crete (was ready to return to Zante but something is stopping me?
Travel during the school holidays.
We would need 2 bedroomed apartment/villa.
A pool on site and close to the beach (hubby and youngest son like snorkelling).
A few bars/restaurants to enjoy of an evening with maybe a little entertainment.
Will book direct with owners.
Flying from Manchester.
Any suggestions please.
Thanks in advance.
Irene
Hi Irene -Last year we stayed at the Socrates apartments in Stalis. They were lovely apartments with a decent size swimming pool. They're just off the beach road, so quiet for sleeping yet in the middle of everything.
Hi Helen, sorry to but in, but who did you book them through ? Considering something similar myself for the summer.
Hi doe - I'll check with Shirley h, but I think it was with Portland direct. It was a great place to stay, really convenient for everything, and nice heavy doors to the apartments which blocked out all noise - great for sleeping. I have a bookmark here from the apartments. If you're interested there's a telephone no & an e mail address I can pm you.
Thanks Helen, I'll go and have a look on the Portland site.
Thomsons & First Choice go there Doe. It's a place I would certainly go back to. It's at the far end of Stalis and about a 10 min stroll into Malia. It would take around 20 mins to walk from one end of Stalis to the other. There are literally hundreds of pubs & restaurants from the bottom of the road in each direction. The apartments are in one of the best locations in Stalis.
Have a look at Koni Village in Stalis. Best we have stayed in. 2 pools, 1 adults only. Close to everything and the apartments were immaculate and very roomy. Ideal for any age group.
I'll second the Socrates apartments, where we had a lovely holiday. We also considered the Koni Village before deciding on the Socrates. We passed the Koni a couple of times during our holiday but it wasn't as close to the centre as we like. Although, it wasn't that far. The very busy main road ran between the Koni Village and the main beach road. I think there might have been an underpass you can use, but maybe bbking can confirm that.
Hi Doe,
We went with Thomson and had a good deal for the school holidays.
Thanks for your replies.
Still trying to find something suitable for us all - it is a family holiday and we all 'input'
Hopefully we will book something soon.
Irene
Yes you do cross the main road to centre from Koni but there is an underpass. And you don't hear traffic. About 10 mins to centre.
Hi guys. We are a family of 4 adults (Youngish Nan and grandad incuded) plus an 18 month old. Anyone tried the Nikos apartments at Stalis? They seem to get an excellent write up and we are into small family run Greek places with lots of clients that return each year. Just wondered if it as good as the reviews suggest. Going in mid May, anyone know what the weather is supposed to be like?
Nikos was another one we looked at seriously. It was on our shortlist, if I remember correctly we discountd it because it wasn't as close to the centre as the Socrates. YOu should have some nice warm, dry weather in May.
I'm sure that the Almiryda area will have plenty for you to do and see but not too riotous, with good beaches and watersports,
cycle hire there's plenty of shops and tavernas
and only 20mins from Chania
Try Kalives 30 mins from Chania airport. Lovely traditional Cretan seaside village. We have an apartment there because we fell in love with the place.
