I have been on a number of occassions - mainly for work - but my OH has never been to Ireland and fancies a long weekend over there.
Travelling from Norfolk, when and where is the best time to go?
Also is it easier/cheaper to drive from here and cross by ferry or fly and hire a car over there??
Thanks in advance
Dave
If I were you I'd consider flying from London Stanstead into Dublin, Shannon, or even KNOCK (Ireland West) - Cheap Flights !!!
I live in the West (Co. Mayo) and off course I'd recommend youd fly into Knock...its about 50 miles from Galway and 40 from Sligo, so you can hit anywhere along the West Copst easily.. and accomm for top quality hotels is pretty good with the 'recession' and that !
If youy want any other info , let me know.

My cousin lives near to Kilkenny. How far is Knock from Kilkenny for the purposes of a day trip?
Dave
Its about 200 km which would be a fairly exhausing 'day trip' so why not consider flying into Knock and staying in Galway (80 Km south) and using it as a base to visit Connemara (West Galway) and the Cliffs Of Mohar / Bunratty castle (Co. Clare), and then a trip to Kilkenny would be about 160 Km./
There are also flight with Aer Arannan (INVALID URL from I think Luton Airport, but they are usually a bit more expensive !
All the best,
Tom
Hi, you can also fly to Kerry from Stansted, these can also be very cheap. My sister flies to Kerry and hires a car there. Though she arranges it before she goes. You could do the Ring of Kerry. Kerry airport is very tiny. If Gatwick is any good you can fly to Shannon from there.
