Hi,

We stayed at the Titanic last year, its a lovely hotel.

We did the trip to Aspendos ( large roman ampitheatre)
The hotel also laid on a free bus into Antalya, lovely old town , harbour, plenty of shops and a market some days, we also got a boat trip ( gulet) from the harbour to the waterfalls and along the coast.

You can also visit Perge ( old ruins!) , and there is a water park in Antalya were you can swim with Dolphins

I'm sure you will have a great time

Thanks Emma, what times were the Gulets, are they daily and how much. What currency did you take as I think Turkey takes Euro and Lira?

The Gulets were daily, we just walked to the harbour and got a trip, there are loads to choose from, so you will always find one, they depart throughout the day.

We took euro's and a small amount of lira, they also like £10 notes in the markets

I cannot understand why anybody would wish to take Euro's or pounds to Turkey to spend on enjoying themselves.Apart from a 10 pound note for the visa you do not need any.Having lived here for five years and holidaying here previous to that I can tell you that the Turks if they say they will take Pounds or Euro's will just set there own exchange rate and you will lose out big style.Turkey uses Lira, Just use TL and you will not be ripped off.Oh and before I forget, they have separate price lists for Euro's, Pounds and Lira.Needless to say Lira is by far the cheapest.Enjoy your holidays and use Lira.

Well Rik, as you live there, I'll take ur advice. Is there queues when you pay for your visa/get your passport stamped, or can you buy one in England from the Turkish embassy?
Reply
You can buy a visa for around 80 pounds each from the Turkish Embassy but you have to do it again when you arrive at the airport. The Visa office is just on your left before you go through Passport Control.Yes, there will be a queue but it's pretty quick to get through.Forget the Turkish Embassy the info they give is not worth Jack S***T. If you go on a boat trip ask for the Lira price otherwise you will be overcharged.

Yes, we did the boat trip from Antalya harbour to the waterfalls in May. They quoted a price in euros - I said we'd only got lira, so he gave us a price in lira. As RIK says, the lira price was cheaper. If you do this trip, take your swimming things as there is a stop for this, which we hadn't expected. it was a 2 hour trip.

When we were in Belek earlier this year, when we asked for a lira price they just converted the euro price. which as you know back in May was not a good deal, they didn't actually have a lira price list. This was for green fees and buggies at Golf courses.
