Our first trip to Turkey this year (my Olu Deniz review has just been posted). We really enjoyed the holiday but would like next time to go somewhere that is perhaps more reminiscent of 'old Turkey' as it has been described.
Dont get me wrong, we loved Olu Deniz but would also like to have a holiday that is not in a purely tourist based resort ..... and looking at maps and other resorts I am getting a bit confused as to which direction to head in .
I wonder if some of you good folk would have some ideas, and perhaps I can persuade hubby that we should have another week away in late September ...?! Thanks in advance.

I have written about Datca before. I got home from there this morning. I've been visiting for over 15 years and for me it is paradise, I go 4 or 5 times a year. No mass tourism, still very Turkish, blue flag beaches mostly empty, stunning mountain and coastal scenery and best of all a breeze when it is hot - great for sailing. I'm happy to give advice to anyone on how to get there and where to stay.
Ortakent on the Bodrum Peninsula is still very much a Turkish resort and the beach is lovely there, also with a blue flag. It is also close enough to Bodrum if you fancy some sightseeing or shopping. It is cheaper than some of the other resorts around Bodrum because more Turkish visitors go there.
Many thanks for providing this info, I shall certainly look at the links. Andy
The old town part of Side if very Turkish - lots of things to see and do in the area, but do not go in July or August far to hot we stayed at a lovely small hotel called the beach house which we booked direct with the owners Ali & Penny which had fab see views.
